Jessica & John’s wedding brought two families separated by thousands of miles together. John’s family local to Puerto Rico, and Jess’s family from here in Pennsylvania.
The language barrier can be tricky and always keeps things interesting! Months back when we were working on Jess & John’s save the dates, they asked me to create some in Spanish to send to his family. Only to find out upon arrival John’s family wasn’t quite sure what to make of them. “Very limited information for an invitation,” they said. Apparently, save the dates are not common down there!
Despite the language barrier and variances in cultural traditions, some communication is universal. A proud smile painted on the faces of both sets of parents. A hug between mothers and a firm handshake between fathers once separated by more than a center aisle. A band bringing everyone to the their feet and grooving on the dance floor.
Jessica and John’s wedding day might have started as two separate families separated by thousands of miles, but in the end, I saw only one.
