Just a couple years ago I was at this same house under the same tent with the same family for another New Jersey backyard wedding. That time, Shayna was in a Bridesmaid dress and her sister Tara was getting married to Tim. Over the years I’ve spent kept in touch with their family through a series of races in Philadelphia and at Shayna’s cousin Sydney’s wedding. Naturally, when I received the first email from Shayna that she was engaged and would like to have me photograph their wedding, I was ecstatic!
Shayna and Sean’s wedding day went off without a hitch. After a traditional church ceremony, we piled on the bus (their wedding party surely made good on the name “party bus”) and headed to the Red Mill in Clinton, NJ. before heading back to Shayna’s parents house to dance the night away under the big top tent! One of my favorite photographs from there day is of Shayna in her wedding dress swinging on the tire swing in front of her parents’ house being pushed by her two sisters. I am a bit of a sentimentalist and like to think that this same scene played out hundreds of times over the years between Tara, Shayna, and Laura. And just for a moment this was nothing out of the ordinary.
Shayna and Sean’s wedding had it all. While things heated up and got a little crazy under the tent, just a few feet away, another group of guests relaxed, and caught up as they made smores over a crackling fire. It doesn’t get much better than that. It was truly a perfect mix to cap off a perfect day!
